• What is a wood floor?
A wooden floor or parquet flooring is made of solid wood top layer thickness not less than 2.5 mm before installation.
• What are the laminate and melamine floors?
Melamine and laminate floors are very different from hardwood floors. They are a kind of decorative coating that, by exploiting the existence of melamine resins applied on their surface, look like wood and floors but have nothing to do with the characteristics of naturalness, warmth and quality of the first ones. They are built with support materials derived from wood, such as chipboard, MDF or HDF, that are very sensitive to variations in humidity.
• What is’ industrial parquet?
Industrial parquet is made of small strips of particularly strong wood, bonded and arranged vertically next to one another, compacted into blocks. These blocks can contain manufacturing defects, stains, parts of sapwood and knots big, ticking, silicon, etc. After being laid on the floor, they are sanded, filled and finished. Just because of the fact that it can be sanded several times over time, the industrial parquet floor is particularly suitable for environments subject to extreme stress and high traffic.
• What is solid traditional wood?
Solid wood has the entire thickness of the “noble wood” element. It can be produced with tongue and groove joints for better seal. It is required especially in larger sizes, or without interlocking, in smaller sizes. The installation must be bonded and solid wood is sanded and painted in place.
• What is a pre-finished?
The underlayment can be of two or three layers. Working with tongue and groove in 4 sides it comes already calibrated, polished and painted ready for installation. The lower layer is called support (phenolic plywood birch E1 class in our case) and it is glued to the upper layer called the “noble wood” in solid wood. Quick and easy to install it can be already walked on after 24 hours. The parquet guarantees stability, durability, practicality, beauty and elegance.
• Is it better to lay a solid or a prefinished?
The decision is completely subjective, but there are some characteristics related to the two types of flooring that can help you choose. The underlayment has a shorter shutter speed, it is walkable after just 24 hours, but after the massive installation must be sanded and finished on site (an advantage when you request a custom finish, detail) operations which take about thirty days . The prefinished has a greater dimensional stability; due to the phenolic birch, plywood and you may have maximum sizes higher than in the solid. The underlayment is also recommended for installation on heated screeds and / or cooling in the floor and in the event of restructuring of existing floors, places where the laying of the massif could give you some problems if you do not take the right precautions. Those who want to recreate an environment characterized by an antique flavor, choosing a completely natural material (no glue, 100% noble wood), require the massive.
• Is it better brushed or smooth?
The etching treatments have the advantage of enhancing some specific characteristics of the tables such as color, grains design and material tactility. Brushing acts directly on the wood grain and it consists in removing from the surface of the boards the softer, thanks to the use of steel brushes. In this way, making it slightly uneven surface has the advantage of hiding signs of aging of your wooden floor. The treatment consists in the pre-polished smooth or sanding of the tables up to make the surface of the parquet completely smooth to the touch, in this way the finish is glossier and more sensitive. Materials that arequire less brushing, being very hard materials, are Walnut, Afrormosia and Cabreuva.
• What is the difference between painting uv 6hands and water painting?
The industrial coating UV guarantees, with its high grammage of paint paving roller 6 passages, fixed with UV lamps, has strong resistance and makes the material more “plasticky”. The water-based coating can affect wax or gloss Gloss ® line and is characterized by the complete absence of toxic emissions, making it ideal for green building, and it feels more natural.
• What kind of finishing and surface treatments are more popular?
The majority of requests are addressed to the prefinished painted wax-effect water. Safe, stable, 100% Made in Italy certificate, suitable for green building, High quality, beauty and practicality. Lately even oil finishing has experienced an increase in demand. Another particular and insistent demand for external paving is our decking.
• What are the most particular treatments and surface finishing?
The engraving details treatments that characterize our products are sawn and planed by hand or craft. The effect “saw cut” consists of small cuts perpendicular to the table, such as those of the sawing of once. The hand planing is made by master cabinetmakers for each and every table. With this treatment, the surface finds the old charm of aged and irregular floors. Planing craft is performed with special machines, giving the surface a slightly wavy, original, pleasant to the touch and sight. Our special surface finish is a high gloss water-based coating, which features our line Gloss ®.
•  What risk do you run by purchaising imported products?
Imported production has in most cases only one advantage: lower costs. On the other hand it has a huge disadvantage: the non-traceability of the product. We are not able to know the materials in the product and their origin, such as glues and paints. The impossibility of knowing the quality of raw materials and components make these products unreliable and potentially harmful to your health. This results in a failure to protect the final consumer.
• What is the Product Data Sheet?
The identification card of the product is a document prepared by the supplier and must be delivered to each end user to comply with what establishes the Legislative Decree of 6 September 2005. 206. It ensures the customer to have purchased an original product or Garbelotto Master Floor. It provides important information on storage and application of the product. •  What is’ formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is a bactericide that may be present in the food, textile, and wood industries because of his preservative and biocide action. The adhesive that holds together shavings or plywood sheets widely used in the production of wood flooring is in fact capable of releasing formaldehyde for long periods helping to raise the concentration of this gas in our homes, in our offices and of all places of life. Its danger is related to its volatility. When we breathe, we take even small particles of formaldehyde. At certain concentrations, the effects of formaldehyde causes irritation to the respiratory tract and eyes. In 2006, the International Agency for import Products for Research on Cancer has declared its possible carcinogenic effects. The panels produced in Italy and consequently the finished products in which they are made, should meet certain parameters and Italian companies are required by law to make consistently accurate control of their productions ensuring compliance. The product intended for import to the homes of our families does not bring any safety standards established by law in terms of formaldehyde.
• What is outdoor decking?
Outdoor decking is a strip of solid wood suitable to be installed in outdoor environments. The material is supplied with or without non-slip knurling in the upper part and with the notches for the insertion of the clips, which guarantee the sealing at the topside / strip below and create a space between the staves of about 3/4 mm necessary for the water drain to the ground. The floor exterior is accompanied by oil for the treatment and maintenance of equipment (against the graying due to weathering and ultraviolet solar and lunar rays). For a good floor maintenance, this treatment must be renewed annually after the winter season after washing with the cleaner. In addition to the outdoor decking planks with clips to attach, tiles are precomposed with solid wood top and bottom with plastic support. The tiles are practical and quick execution of the pose running or chess.

• What are the technical characteristics and qualities of a hardwood floor?
Wooden floors are a choice that respects the environment being completely sustainable; being a fully recyclable product unlike what happens in the laminate, ceramic, marble and similar products. It is an enviable aesthetic qualities material, it has excellent durability and resistance to wear, good performance guarantees to mechanical stress and vibration, and it is an excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. Finally, it has the ability to restore or renew it easily through polishing and sanding.
• What is’ hardness?
Wood hardness is the property that indicates its resistance to penetration. It is determined according to the procedures and limitations imposed by the UNI EN 1534 – Determination of resistance to penetration (Brinell). The Brinell hardness is determined by the entity impression of the load detected in the wood. The smaller the magnitude of the impression, the greater the hardness of the wood and, therefore, much more resistant and durable is the floor. It is important to note that wood is a living material and its structure, shaped by nature over the years, is not uniform: for this reason, the Brinell test is performed several times on each type of wood.
• What is durability?
The line CREATOR ® is our line dedicated to artistic floor suitable for all environments, whereas Durability is the ability of wood to resist degradation caused by environmental stresses physico-chemical, or biological (bacteria, fungi, insects or other organisms ). Durability is closely related to treatments that are carried out on the wooden parts that are in direct contact with the elements. Therefore, with small and simple things you can safely increase the lifetime of those parts exposed simply by adopting as maintenance treatments, impregnating agents, pesticides, etc.
• What is thermal “conductivity” or thermal trasmittance?
Thermal conductivity λ (W / m * K) is the ability of a material to conduct heat. The coefficient λ indicates the amount of heat flowing through 1 square meter of material thickness of 1 meter, with a temperature difference between inside and outside of 1 ° K. The insulating materials are characterized by a coefficient λ less than 0.1 W / m * K. For parquet resistance, thermal conductivity should not exceed approx. 0:17 sq m * K / W. Thermal conductivity for floors should be considered for the laying conditions as the ideal substrate should ideally meet the best features of compactness and thermal conductivity. In particular, in the case of floating (since conductivity calculationand thermal conductivity of any element can be contributing factors, such as sprains cause inconsistency in the size or the gap between the top layer of wood and support).
• What is’ dimensional stability?
The dimensional stability indicates the changes of volume of the timber to vary environmental humidity and temperature. The dimensional stability is calculated by applying the method of proof established by the UNI EN 1910.
• Which one is the best finishing? Oil or paint?
Finishing choices are very subjective, depending on the aesthetic result and the feeling you want to get from your floors. Oil finishing gives the wood floor an effect of great naturalness, while the paint enhances tones and chromatics of woody tissues. Finish must ensure the parquet functional performance as well. Parquet floor finished with paint can be cleaned simply, there will not be any footprints, and no drops of water, juice or other liquids will remain. Oil finished parquet leaves the surface of the wood more visible (open pore), making the appearance of the floors very “hot” and “alive”. If the flooring is swiped you can always proceed even locally in the drafting of oil recovery by almost disappear smear. It is advisable to do the oil treatment at least once a year and a half in order to obtain an effect of the floor still alive and beautiful.
• Can floors be laid over existing flooring?
Yes, if it is firmly attached as flooring tiles, ceramics, marble and other materials, stone. The following are incompatible with the laying of a parquet carpet, PVC, linoleum. These should be removed from the bottom along with any trace of old adhesive. On a tiled floor before it is mandatory to remove any wax residue, dirt or grease deposited in time then you have to grind ceramics, in order to catch most of the adhesive.

• Can parquet be laid in the kitchen or bathroom?
The wooden floor can be laid in the kitchen and in the bathroom. Water, in fact, if not stagnant, does not damage the flooring. It would be appropriate to choose wood species that are more stable in contact with moisture, such as Doussiè, Merbau, Teak and Iroko. Oak requires more caution, because contact with moisture tends to create dark stains caused by the leakage of tannin, very present in this wood species. And it is advisable to have good floor care, always open the windows and ventilate the premises after the use of showers or the like to remove any moisture that had settled inside the rooms and prevent it from altering the floors.
• Is parquet compatible with floor heating/cooling systems?
When it comes to choosing underfloor heating using wood that is optimal choice. Given that wood is an insulation material in nature, which prevents any direct contact with the heat emitted by the radiant panels. All prefinished are suitable to the laying of floor heating systems. They have a multi-layer support engraved into several parts, which allows spreading the heat evenly, over the entire surface. Among other things, the reference standard is the same and generally, heating and cooling plants are the same. It should be added, however, that these plants technology is evolving. It would be better therefore to pay particular attention to the thermal engineering design of the system-screed floor. It is important to ensure that the system is put under pressure, to avoid any problem in the coils, and implement the pre-cycle heating / cooling before laying.
• Is parquet very delicate?
Lived and treated with due attention paid and protected by its own paint, floors can be very durable. To be avoided are definitely external aggression agents that can scratch the surface of the floor as heels, pet nails, contact with sharp objects, etc.
